MLB All-Star Paul DeJong To Join Bison For Redbird Family Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Former St. Louis Cardinals All-Star and Illinois State University alum Paul DeJong will join the Bison to drop the ceremonial puck on Redbird Family Night presented by Illinois State Credit Union on Friday, October 23 at Grossinger Motors Arena at 7 p.m.

DeJong was named a 2016 MiLB.com Organizational All-Star, a member of the 2017 MLB All-Rookie Team and the 2019 MLB All-Star Team with St. Louis and played in 925 career MLB games. Prior to turning pro, he appeared in 39 games with the ISU Redbirds and was named the 2013 Doug Collins Illinois State Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Bloomington’s Redbird Family Night coincides with ISU Homecoming Weekend and will feature recognition of current and former Redbird athletes as well as alumni groups.

Reggie the Redbird will join Abe in creating lasting memories in the arena during Bloomington’s Friday Night game, and fans can enjoy familiar 309 Night deals including $3 Busch Lights and sodas, $0 popcorn and $9 T-shirts. Abe and the Bison will also be featured in Saturday’s ISU Homecoming Parade.

The first 3,000 fans in the arena will receive a 2026-27 Bison magnet schedule courtesy of Mandy Reed State Farm Insurance. Forward Sullivan Mack and goaltender Markus Stensrud will be signing autographs on the concourse after the game behind Section 108.
