BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Bloomington Bison Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations Phillip Barski announced today that the team has signed forward Chongmin Lee to a standard player contract for the 2026-27 season.
Lee, 27, played six games with the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters during the 2025-26 season. The Seoul, South Korea native became the first Korean-born player to sign an AHL contract on October 21, 2025.
The right-shot winger led all Bison in assists and finished second in scoring in the team’s inaugural 2024-25 season, and has amassed 87 points (31g-56a) in 102 career ECHL games- all with Bloomington.
Lee has represented South Korea on the international stage numerous times, and was recognized with with the IIHF World Championship’s Top Player on Team Award during the 2023-24 season. He helped Korea win a Silver Medal in 2024-25.
Prior to turning pro, Lee played parts of four seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Prince George Spruce Kings and totaled 62 points (22g-40a) in 134 regular season games. He was on the BCHL Championship-winning team in 2018-19.
