Bison Sign Niagara Standout Forward Glebs Prohorenkovs

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Bloomington Bison Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations Phillip Barski announced today the team has signed forward Glebs Prohorenkovs to a standard player contract for the 2026-27 season.

Prohorenkovs, 24, recently completed his collegiate career after amassing 87 points (31g-56a) in 147 NCAA Division-I games at Niagara University and leading the team in assists this past season. The Riga, Latvia native has also represented his country in two IIHF World Championship tournaments and many times on the international stage for Junior Championships.

The 6-foot-3, 203-pound center won a D1A Silver Medal at the 2019-20 U20 World Junior Championships and a D1A Gold Medal at the 2017-18 U18 World Junior Championships.

Prohorenkovs’ first season in North America was with the NAHL’s Amarillo Wranglers in 2021-22 when he scored 18 goals and 53 points in 60 games with 50 penalty minutes.

Prior to traveling overseas, he played in seven KHL games and scored a goal for Dinamo Riga and recorded eight points for the MHL’s HK Riga during the 2020-21 campaign. From 2018 through 2020, Prohorenkovs tallied 25 points (6g-19a) in 61 games in Latvia’s top league.
